Accessory Dwelling Units - Legislature to Pay Attention To
The City of Los Angeles is defining the guidelines for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU), which are also referred to as a granny flat, or mother-daughter residence, or secondary dwelling unit. The city is collecting input from the community as to what people think the standards should be for ADUs within the State of California's defined parameters. The studio City Residents Association is concerned about this legislature as poor definition and implementation could result in lots zoned for single family residences being allowed to build "apartments" on the lots.
For more information, on ADUs please read the following FAQs provided by the City of Los Angeles Planning Department.
